Race Number and Chip
Your official Tulsa Run race number is enclosed in your race packet. Do not lose, bend, fold, cut or alter your number. This number has been assigned to you and must not be worn by anyone else. Immediate disqualification will result. Runners without an official number will be escorted from the race course. With the exception of the Fun Run participants, you will be timed with a computer chip. You must secure this chip to your shoe with the plastic fastener provided. Pin your number on the front of your racing attire. Safety pins are provided in your packet. If you have any questions or problems concerning your race number, please contact the Tulsa Run office at 587-8786.
2k Fun Run Numbers Fun Run tags will not be pulled by race officials as no official times are recorded.
Competitive Racewalker Numbers Racewalker numbers will be yellow. Racewalkers will also have a colored tag with RW on their back.
Switching Races If you have entered the 5k or 15k and want to run the Fun Run instead, you must turn in your computer chip. If you have entered the Fun Run and decide to run the 5k or 15k, come to the Tulsa Run office before race day.
The Race
The start of all races is on Boulder Avenue at approximately Third Street. You can reach the starting line from Second and Third streets. The finish line is near the Bank of Oklahoma Arena (2nd Street and Denver Avenue).
- 5k Wheelchair Race Start time is 8:25 a.m.
- 5k Race (5 kilometers or 3.1 miles) Begins at 8:30 a.m. Runners should begin assembling at the Third Street and Boulder Avenue staging area at 8:15 a.m.
- 15k Wheelchair Race Begins at 8:55 a.m.
- 15k Race (15 kilometers or 9.3 miles) Begins at 9 a.m. Runners should begin assembling at the Third Street and Boulder Avenue staging area at 8:45 a.m.
- 15k Competitive Racewalkers Start time is 9:10 a.m.
- 2k Fun Run (2 kilometers or 1.2 miles) Begins at 9:15 a.m.
Special note to all runners:
- For your own safety, please line up according to a pace that is realistic for you.
- A special section for seeded runners will be established at the front. All persons in that area without a seeded number are subject to removal.
- You must cross the rubber pad at the start line to be timed. Crossing this pad starts the timing process with the computer chip on your shoe.
- Runners are not allowed to warm up in front of the starting line.
- 2k Fun Run Runners should note their times on the digital clock above the finish line. No official times or results are kept for the Fun Run.
Refreshments
QuikTrip, Pepsi, Wild Oats, and Budweiser will provide refreshments for all runners. Please limit your refreshments until all runners have finished.
Street Re-Openings
The streets being used for the 5k and 15k races will be re-opened at noon.
NOT ALLOWED: Animals, roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, bicycles, baby strollers, baby joggers, headsets or earphones. These items can be dangerous to you and the other runners. If you have one of these items, you will be removed from the course immediately.
- Be alert to traffic on the race course, including emergency vehicles. Tulsa Police and race officials are stationed along the course, but we cannot guarantee traffic will not cross during the race.
Tulsa Run 2008 Race Day Information
What is the course?
- The 15-kilometer (15k) course TBA.
- The 5-kilometer (5k) course TBA.
- The Fun Run course TBA.
Where do I park? Parking is available around the start and finish lines.
Where will the water be? Throughout the course and at the start and finish areas. Please drink plenty of water before, during, and after the race.
Where are the restrooms located? Porta-johns will be located in close proximity to the start and finish line.
Where will the official times be posted? Official times will be posted after the run at the Information Tent in the middle of the Finish Line Festival.
What awards will be given? Overall male and female, wheelers, top Masters racewalkers and all age group awards in both 5k and 15k races. All males finishing the 15k Tulsa Run in less than 60 minutes and all females finishing the 15k Tulsa Run in less than 70 minutes will receive a cup from Hillcrest Healthcare System. Cups will be distributed at the Hillcrest tent located at the Finish Line Festival.
Where is the Tulsa Run Office and what are the office hours? The office is located at 1318 E. 41st St. (across from Wild Oats Market) and is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. beginning October 8th. On Friday, Oct. 26 the office will be located at the Fitness Expo in the Crowne Plaza, 100 E. Second St., from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Will the office be open after the race? The office will be open for one week after the race, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Awards must be claimed by December 31, 2008.
Where is the lost and found? The Lost and Found Tent is located at the Information Tent in the middle of the Finish Line Festival.
My mother is lost? Turn over lost or misplaced kids to a police officer or take them to a race official at the Information Tent in the middle of the Finish Line Festival.
Can I change races? To change races, or for additional questions and assistance, please visit the office or Tulsa Run table for arrangements. There will be an additional charge to change from the Fun Run to the 15k or 5k. To change from the 15k or 5k to the Fun Run, run with your 15k or 5k run number but return your chip to race officials.
Where is the medical tent? At the end of the Finish Line area.
Where can I leave my sweats? At the Gear Check tent at the start line. Race officials will be at the start line beginning at 7:30 am to transport personal items to the finish line for the 5k and 15k runners. DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES and/or irreplaceable items. We do not encourage you to put anything of value in these bags, as we are not responsible for items that are lost and stolen.
NO REFUNDS!!! NO RACE-DAY REGISTRATION. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR CHIP TO BE TIMED!!!
